ISLAY MIST saw the light of day in 1927. Just like today, it consisted of whiskey from the Laphroaig distillery and selected Speyside distilleries. The whiskey was made to celebrate Lord Margadale's son's 21st birthday and so the gold medal winning whiskey still bears his seal; seal of the Lord of The Isles. The original recipe is still followed and Islay Mist remains The Original Peated Blended, with a characteristic balance of smoke and peat together with mature layers of barley malt and oak. Year after year, Islay Mist wins gold for its taste. A completely unique whiskey and the only blended whiskey in the world that can use the word "Islay" in its name. Leading whiskey writer Dave Broom calls Islay Mist "A jewel".
